I am a medical research doctor with more than 20 years of experience studying how the nervous system and skeletal muscle develop and trying to understand the mechanisms that lead to disorders of both. My research has taken place at both large academic medical centers and at medical schools. Having spent a significant amount of time both teaching and training new scientists and physicians has reinforced in me the concept that easily understandable information about the body, its physiology, and the bases for specific disorders can be difficult to locate. I hope that you find that my articles remove some of the mystery surrounding how the human body functions and what goes wrong when certain diseases occur.
